Launching a sharp reaction over the newly passed Citizenship (Amendment) Act, AIMIM (All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen) leader Asaduddin Owaisi has called a mass public meeting at Darussalam on December 21.

Parliamentarian Asaddudin Owaisi informed about the upcoming video through a video feed. In the video, he said, “A public meeting (jalsa) will be organized against (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi’s citizenship law at Darussalam on December 21.” The leader also urged people to attend the event.  The leader also threw an open invitation to the people for accompanying him in the event.

Speaking further on the Citizenship Amendment Act, Owaisi said that the Act is against the spirit of the Indian Constitution and it is an attempt to divide the country on the lines of religion. He said that if the government combines the Citizenship Act and National Register of Citizen, then it would be very detrimental to the interest of the Muslim section of the country. He also said that those Muslims would be declared illegal whose names do not appear in the NRC.  He further added that it would hurt the secular values of Indian society and violate the equal rights of citizens.

Earlier, Congress party’s general secretary KC Venugopal also announced to organize a flag march under the banner of Save India, Save Constitution on December 28.
