A robot who was employed by the Gumi City Council in South Korea as a civil officer committed an “act of suicide.” The robot hurled itself off a six-and-a-half-foot flight of steps and was discovered unresponsive. According to accounts, the “diligent” first-of-its-kind robot that assisted the council with daily document delivery and municipal promotion appears to have passed away from work-related stress.
This one-of-a-kind cyborg was the first to be appointed as a city council official. It was created by California-based business Bear Robotics, well known for its line of restaurant-serving robots. An official stated, “helped with daily document deliveries, city promotion, and delivered information.” The Cyborg had a civil service officer card and worked regular hours, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., just like any other employee.
The robot fell off the stairs on the 4th of July, making it the first case of a robot committing suicide in the country. According to the Gumi City Council, the now-defunct robot was indeed suicidal when an official observed it “circling in one spot as if something was there” before the alleged disaster.
It is being questioned that, Why did Cyborg commit suicide?, What were the reasons behind its depression? The Gumi City Council has commenced an investigation to resolve all the matters.
