According to reports from both Android Police and 9t5Google, Google seems to be rolling out a new feature for its AI(Artificial Intelligence) powered Google Assistant with an option to read messages from non-Google apps like WhatsApp, Slack, and Telegram. With this new feature, you can dictate or even type replies, however, there seems to be very limited support for languages excluding English as of now. The Google Assistant visual card displays a preview of the message, name of the contact, and the app it will reply through.

Earlier, whenever you ordered Google Assistant to “read my messages,” t would only read SMS texts and jump over other plenty of messages you received from other messaging portals like WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Discord, GroupMe, and so on. But now with this new update, Assistant not only will be reading your texts but also allow you to reply to them.

There comes a voice workflow for replying to messages, however, you can opt for keyboard too if you are more comfortable with writing it down. Google Assistant further offers a voice transcript before sending out any message with verbal confirmation or a button press confirmation.

Google Assistant allows you to swipe cards so as to let you see other messages too. The feature is live on both the stable (10.28) and beta version (10.33) of the Google app. and seems to be rolling out largescale today.
