Google Duplex

Google Duplex, the voice assistant from Google that has been so far reserved for Pixel phones, is making its way to non-Pixel phones. A Google spokesperson confirmed on Monday that the new Google Assistant feature for booking restaurants is rolling out to more Android as well as iOS devices in the U.S.

9t05 Google reported the support page for Duplex to be saying that Android devices running version 5.0 or later can use Duplex and so can iOS devices with Google Assistant installed, but not everywhere. XDADevelopers reported on Wednesday that they were able to run Duplex on Samsung Galaxy S10+.

Previously, Google Duplex was exclusively available on Pixel smartphones. In March, Google was reported to be expanding Duplex to Pixel devices in 43 states.

Google Duplex was launched in May last year and has the ability to make voice calls on the user’s behalf. Duplex does not rely on robotic voice but uses complex sentences, fast speech, and long remarks in order to deliver a human voice. The Assistant can be used to make reservations, schedule appointments, and get information from businesses.

In order to use Duplex, users need to ask Google Assistant to carry out a task like booking a table or making an appointment.

At the meantime, Google has announced the event schedule of its I/O developer conference that is slated to be held from May 7 to May 9.

Expectedly, Google will be kicking off its I/O event with the main Google keynote at 10 AM PDT, which will likely be hosted by key Google executives, including Sundar Pichai. As it goes every year, Google will be listing the changes that have been or are expected to be introduced to its services and products, including Android and its upcoming variant, Android Q. The event will be live streamed for enthusiasts who are interested in the conference but have not been able to score a ticket.
