OnePlus Open Beta update

OnePlus is rolling out yet another OxygenOS Open Beta for its 2017 and 2018 models. The company had introduced a system-wide dark mode in the Shelf dashboard along with enhancements to slow-motion for OnePlus 6 with OxygenOS Open Beta 8 update back in December.

The company has now launched the OxygenOS Open Beta 12 for the OnePlus 6. The update is said to be bringing OnePlus laboratory function, optimization for the screenshot function and support for quick reply in landscape mode. The update will also bring improvements to clock as well as gaming mode enhancements. Apart from the update for the OnePlus 6, the OEM is also bringing updates for its 6T and 5T models.

The Open Beta 12 for 6T and 5T brings the same features that are listed on OnePlus 6’s OxygenOS Open Beta 12 changelog. OnePlus 6T users will see changes in Open Beta 4. While the OnePlus 5 and 5T will be updated to OxygenOS Open Beta 26 and Open Beta 24 respectively.

Notably, the company has not added world clock support with weather information, which are present on OnePlus 6 and 6T, to the update for 2017 models.

Here’s the changelog:

  • System
    • Added OnePlus Laboratory for OnePlus 6
    • Optimizations for screenshot function
    • Support for quick reply in landscape mode – now easier to reply to new messages when watching videos
    • Gaming mode enhancement
  • Clock
    • Now supports world clock with weather information

The company in its official forum said the updates for OnePlus 5 and 5T has been paused due to a critical bug. The company has promised to roll out the Open Beta updates as soon as the bug is fixed. As the usual Beta testing goes, these updates will be rolled out in stages, which means it might take some time for the update to be available to everyone. Since it is a Beta update it is not as stable as a full-fledged update so users should install this update only if they have flashed Open Beta build on their devices before. OnePlus has noted that users can report bugs and share ‘Logs’ directly via the Community App.

As per the battery drain issue with the OnePlus 6T that has been reported recently, there are no mentions on the forum regarding the fixation.
