Call it a drivers’ delight or a practical four-seater, the all-new Audi S5 Sportback can be both. The German carmaker has finally launched it and for a CBU unit, a price tag of Rs.79.06 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) is pretty obvious. Because why not?
It looks modern, gets so many changes inside-out and is even more practical than ever. However, what remains unchanged is the heart of the updated sedan. But does the performance and feel remains unchanged or not? Well, straightaway heading to answer that.

Exterior
With a blend of performance, luxury and practicality, the 2021 Audi S5 Sportback comes with a modern design language as well. For instance, the front section now houses a revamped single-frame grille, Matrix LED headlights with DRLs and a new bumper. Interestingly, after receiving so many updates the side profile of the performance sedan remains as before. That means Audi S5 continues to run on a set of 19-inch alloy wheels.
Interior
Audi has played a smart move while designing the interior of the S5. For now, just imagine the interior of the Audi A5 and replace the conventional steering wheel with a flat bottom unit. It’s done. They are smart enough! However, the infotainment system is now a floating one and is updated in terms of technology. Gone are those rotary dials from the center console.
This way the cabin of the all-new Audi S5 feels premium yet sophisticated. Further, features such as three-zone climate control, sports seats finished in Alcantara leather and a panoramic sunroof continue to be part of the cabin. The list does not end here. Audi has also announced to offer a brutal 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen surround-sound system on the S5 as optional. Well, that’s how Germans surprise you.
Engine
Under the hood, this crazy performance sedan comes powered by a 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol V6 engine. And without a doubt, this V6 motor produces a massive 354HP and 500Nm of torque.
Transmission duties are handled by an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Meanwhile, Audi offers its Quattro all-wheel-drive system on this car as standard. Performance-wise it is an absolute beast. Just push hard onto the throttle and with the blink of an eye, it does a 0-100kmph sprint in just 4.8 seconds.
Rivals
It’s rivalry time! BMW launched the M340i XDrive in India at Rs.62.9 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). We know it was a CKD unit and thus localisation helped a lot while pricing it. But does paying somewhere around Rs.17 Lakhs more for the Audi S5 Sportback make sense? Well, it does not. But then you cannot even deny the fact that there are people who love Audi a lot.
