Using an aluminium frame with a polymer sub-frame, the all-new Monster is lighter than the previous one. Also, several modern features such as all-LED lighting, smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth and a 4.3-inch digital instrument console have been introduced. Even three different ride modes including – Urban, Touring and Sport are there to alter the overall performance for such a powerful naked motorcycle. For rider’s safety, it comes with traction control, cornering ABS, wheelie control and ride-by-wire technology among others.
Hardware
Suspension duties for the updated monster are managed by a 43mm USD fork up front and a preload-adjustable mono-shock at the back. The front end also comes with twin 320mm floating discs. Meanwhile, the other end comes with a single 245mm disc as standard.
Engine
Powering the all-new Ducati Monster is a potent 937cc Testatretta, twin-cylinder engine. Wait, where’s the old one? The Italian bike manufacturer has replaced the old 821cc motor with this new one. As claimed by Ducati, the all-new engine is capable of churning out a massive 111HP @ 9250 RPM and a peak torque 93Nm @ 6500 RPM while being mated to a revised 6-speed gearbox with a bi-directional quickshifter available from the entry-level variants.
The new Monster is of course powerful than its predecessor but the major highlight is its new weight. When compared to the older model, this new one weighs 18 kgs lesser with an overall weight of somewhere around 166kgs (dry weight).
