Carmakers were strictly told to manufacture BS6 compliant vehicles post 1st April 2020. Some of them dropped their diesel engines due to higher conversion costs. Others introduced these engines with lower displacement. To conclude, they anyhow managed to reintroduce their entire lineup.

Exceptions are always there. And, Isuzu was one of them. The carmaker discontinued its BS4 lineup but never introduced the updated one. Better late than never, the Japanese brand is all set to bring its revised lineup in India. However, it will be the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross that will mark the company’s entry this time. The BS6 compliant pickup truck has been spied multiple time sans camouflage. Sadly, it remains similar to the outgoing variant apart from the updated engine.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Isuzu is ready to launch the 2021 D-Max V-Cross in the coming weeks.
  • It will be available with a BS6 compliant 1.9-litre four-cylinder diesel engine.
  • No other changes are expected on the 2021 Isuzu D-Max V-Cross.

On the outside, the 2021 Isuzu D-Max V-Cross will get a wide grille, slimmer LED headlamps, roof rails and 18-inch sportier alloy wheels. The all-new pickup truck is also expected to come with a 225mm ground clearance.

Inside the cabin, the updated D-Max V-Cross will remain more or less similar to the outgoing variant. It will feature a spacious 5-seater layout with leather upholstery. Apart from this, the list includes a multi-functional steering wheel, keyless entry and electrically adjustable driver seat to name a few. An updated infotainment system is also expected to be a part of the feature list.

In terms of safety, it comes with dual airbags, ESC, rear parking sensors and ABS among others.

Under the hood, it will be available with a BS6 compliant 1.9-litre diesel engine. The Japanese carmaker has not revealed the power figures of the upcoming pickup truck yet. However, the older one used to produce 148HP along with 350Nm of torque. This engine conventionally comes mated to either a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox.

Price of the 2021 D-Max V-Cross will be revealed on the day of its launch. However, as per the sources, the carmaker is expected to price the updated pick truck at a premium of Rs.1 Lakh when compared to the previous model.

Alternatives

Currently, there are no direct rivals available for the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross in India. Also, there are no pickup trucks available in the country within this price range. Therefore, in terms of price, it will go head-on against the likes of Tata Safari.

Globally, it competes against the likes of Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger.

Tata Safari was recently launched in India. Just like the older one, it is rugged and bold. However, the only issue with the all-new SUV is that it does not get a four-wheel-drive powertrain. Isuzu D-Max V-Cross might fall in the pickup truck segment. But in terms of price, it is expected to be priced somewhere near the all-new Safari. Also, just to be precise, D-Max V-Cross is available with a 4WD powertrain.
