In terms of features, the all-new HTX variant comes with keyless entry, hill start assist, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) and keyless entry just to name a few. Other features such as rear door sunshade and voice-controlled sunroof are now added as the first-in-segment features.
Kia has also introduced an electric sunroof, push start-stop button and 16-inch alloy wheels to the lower variants as well. Apart from all this, all the variants with an automatic gearbox will now be available with paddle shifters, multiple drive modes and multi-level traction control as standard.
Variants including HTX+ and above will come equipped with a voice command feature that can be used by just saying “Hello Kia”.
Features such as ambient lighting, ventilated seats at the front, air purifier Bose surround sound system, fully digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system continues to be a part of the Kia Sonet lineup according to the variants.
Under the hood, the 2021 Sonet comes with three different engine options. Customers can opt for a 1.2-litre NA petrol engine that churns out 83HP and 115Nm of torque. For your information, it is only available with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Then there is a 1.0-litre turbo petrol unit that produces 120HP and 175Nm of torque while being mated to a 6-speed iMT gearbox as standard. However, customers will also get the option to choose this gearbox with a 7-speed DCT gearbox as well. The 100HP, 1.5-litre diesel engine comes with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter. The peak torque from this engine stands at 240Nm.
In India, Kia Sonet compares with Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Renault Kiger and Toyota Urban Cruiser among others. For now, just take a look at its prime rival – the Hyundai Venue.
Hyundai Venue is one of the best sellers for the Korean carmaker. Interestingly, it is available with 1.0-litre turbo petrol, 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine that are powerful and available with multiple gearboxes to choose from.
