Exterior & Design

There are some minor yet important changes that can be witnessed in the new Lexus ES. The first one is obviously visible to the naked eye and to be precise, the brand has slightly updated the signature grille. Interestingly, even the headlights and alloy wheels are new to enhance the overall stance.

Two new paint schemes have also been added in the form of Sonic Iridium and Sonic Chrome.

Interior

The cabin of the new ES feels premium with new upholstery. This time, the Japanese carmaker has decided to offer ventilated seats for even the second row. Other features including a new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 17-speaker Mark and Levinson surround sound system, an air ioniser and a 360-degree camera are there depending upon the variant.

The 2021 Lexus ES also comes with a powered tailgate and kick sensor that reasonably minimises human effort.

Engine

Just like the older version of ES, the new one also features a powerful 2.5-litre petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology onboard. As claimed by the brand, this entire setup is capable of churning out a massive 215BHP alongside 221Nm of peak torque while being paired to a CVT gearbox.

For your information, the mild hybrid technology gets a 16kW battery pack with the ultimate motive to aid overall fuel efficiency and even offer sudden bursts of power whenever required.

Alternatives

In India, the updated Lexus ES compares with some well-established German rivals such as BMW 5 Series, Audi A6 and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. As we know, A6 is only available with a sole petrol engine, therefore, it is one of the closest competitors to the new Lexus ES. Want to learn more about it?
