2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class
Exterior & Design
On the outside, it feels composed in this new evolved avatar. The brand has decided to follow the latest-gen E-Class in terms of design and onboard are some model-specific elements such as a distinct chrome grille (with three horizontal slats), new bumpers and sleek taillamps that offers a final modern touch to the new S-Class.
A plethora of exterior colour shades has finally made their way this time. The list starts with – Onyx Black, Anthracite Blue, Emerald Green, Rubellite Red and Designo Diamond White.
Interior
A proper interior designer seems to have worked on the updated cabin. Premium materials alongside a host of features make it the best place to be in. To begin with, the centre console features the brand’s latest MBUX infotainment system (12.8-inch) and just behind the steering wheel an intuitive fully digital instrument cluster further enhances the overall ambience. Rear executive seats will be available as standard and just to keep you entertained a Burmester 4D surround sound system is there for the rescue.
Engine & Powertrain
Peek under the hood and there sits either six-cylinder petrol or a similarly configured diesel engine. Tuned differently the first one propels 367HP and 500Nm of peak torque. Similarly, the latter one churns out a massive 330HP and 700Nm of torque.
Both of them truly makes sense for this humongous luxury saloon but what further complements the overall setup is the 9-speed automatic gearbox and brand’s 4Matic all-wheel drive powertrain. The introduction of rear-wheel steering has further improved the manoeuvrability of the new S-Class.
Price
Such massive price tags can definitely bother anyone. Even Mr CEO! Currently, the launch edition of the 2021 S-Class range will start at Rs.2.17 Crore (S400d) and the petrol variant will cost its customers somewhere around Rs.2.19 Crore (all-prices ex-showroom, pan-India).
