The brand themselves have no idea about it and therefore, there’s no need to understand what it is all about. Just keep in mind, that there’s a slightly higher segment above the entry-level hatchbacks which are obviously sportier when compared to their younger counterparts. Confused? For instance, take the Ford Freestyle as it is a one-step up for Figo. Similarly, Maruti Suzuki has a sportier version of Celerio named Celerio X.

Tata Motors has again decided to enter the segment and to do that, they will be coming up with the 2021 Tiago NRG which was discontinued after the introduction of the BS6 emission norms. Want to know more about it? Take a look at the details we have till now.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • 2021 Tata Tiago NRG launched slated for next month.
  • To be available with a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine.
  • Tiago NRG will get various cosmetic changes inside-out.

2021 Tata Tiago NRG: Expectations

Talking about the styling, we will be witnessing several cosmetic enhancements on the upcoming Tiago NRG. To begin with, it will be featuring a new grille, reworked bumpers and body cladding all across. Interestingly, these bumpers will be even muscular to give the new hatchback a crossover like design. The older version of the same even featured improved ground clearance. Therefore, we expect the brand to do the same even this time. Just for reference, the standard variants of Tiago comes with a ground clearance of 170mm.

Other expected updates on the outside include a new set of alloy wheels and roof rails to differentiate it from the regular Tiago.

Inside the cabin, there will be minor updates including some edition-specific elements. Unlike the older Tiago NRG, this one is expected to get a Harman Kardon surround sound system, climate control, touchscreen infotainment display and fully digital instrument cluster as standard. For occupants safety, Tata offers dual airbags, ABS and parking sensors among others on the Tiago.

Since there’s no diesel engine for the entire Tiago range, therefore expect the NRG variant to come with a sole 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine. The overall output from this unit is rated at 84BHP and 113Nm with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox onboard. To be precise, this setup is adequate enough to power the upcoming Tiago NRG.

Alternatives

In India, Tata Tiago NRG will be competing against some well-known rivals such as Maruti Suzuki Celerio X and Ford Freestyle. Want to know more about the Celerio X? Take a look at the details down below.
