Tata Tiago NRG LaunchedImage Source: Tata Motors Twitter

After the post-BS6 era, Tata Motors decided to discontinue the Tiago NRG because they wanted to focus on expanding the lineup with other cars as well. The older Tiago NRG might not be the best selling hatchback in India but people demanding it, again and again, has forced the carmaker to reintroduce it. Sadly, no diesel engine will be offered on the updated range of Tiago and this way it is only available with a petrol manual version (at Rs.6.57 Lakhs) and petrol AMT (at Rs.7.09 Lakhs). (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).

Want to learn more about the all-new hatchback? Take a look at the details down below.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Tata Motors has launched the 2021 Tiago NRG in India.
  • This range is priced from Rs.6.57 Lakhs to Rs.7.09 Lakhs.
  • It will be powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol unit.

Exterior

On the outside, the all-new Tiago NRG features a reprofiled front section with a new headlamp setup and a revised grille. The bumpers on either end have been treated similarly with faux skid plates and body cladding to give the NRG variant a differentiated look when compared to the regular Tiago.

Dimension-wise, it is longer and comes with an enhanced ground clearance which now stands at 181mm. Another upgrade for the NRG model is the dual-tone 18-inch alloy wheels which will be available across both variants.

A palette full of colour shades including Fire Red, Cloudy Grey, Snow White and Foresta Green is also new for the entire range of Tiago NRG.

Interior

Not much has been changed inside except for some minor cosmetic upgrades. The recently launched Tiago NRG continue to feature all the equipment available on the top-spec Tiago.

To begin with, the list starts with a multi-functional steering wheel, Harman Kardon surround sound system, height adjustment for driver’s seat, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, keyless entry and dual airbags among others. Sadly, Tiago NRG will not get automatic climate control. Well, this way it will be featuring a manually adjustable air conditioner.

Engine

Powering the all-new Tiago NRG is the same 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine that is also available on its standard counterpart. The overall output from this motor is rated at 86BHP and 113Nm while being mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. However, for added convenience, Tata has decided to offer an optional AMT gearbox for Rs.52,00 extra.

Alternatives

Tata Tiago NRG does not have any direct rival in India. However, for now, it will compete against the Maruti Suzuki Celerio X. Want to learn more about both of them? Well, take a look at a quick comparison between both the hatchbacks right here.
