Sports cars are fun but if it is a BMW M8 Competition then, everything seems to be more on the aggressive side. Also, fun too. The brand has decided to update the 8-Series, specifically the M8 Competition range which will be available with all three body types, including Coupe, Convertible and Gran Coupe. Surprisingly, updates on all three of them are minor but the impact they make does make a lot of difference.

Sources suggest that BMW might introduce it in India soon and therefore, we have decided to cover all the details related to the 2022 M8 Competition down below.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • 2022 BMW M8 Competition has made its global debut.
  • Will get the old 617HP, 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine.
  • Received minor cosmetic and feature enhancements.

2022 BMW M8 Competition: What’s new?

Instead of the older 10.25-inch screens, the brand has decided to offer a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and driver’s display as standard. BMW claims that the updated unit will be user friendly and intuitive to operate with all the information in one go.

Another important improvement on the 2022 M8 Competition is the Harman Kardon surround sound system that takes user experience to another level.

Inside the cabin, the updated range will also get M sport seats as standard. Thankfully, BMW has decided to offer M Carbon bucket seats to improve the racing feel. Other features such as auto start-stop function, twin M buttons and a head-up display are also a part of the feature’s list.

The all-new M8 Competition will be running on large 20-inch M light-alloy wheels. Surprisingly, the change in design and introduction of star-spokes improve the side profile to a great extent. BMW has also decided to offer 8 new exterior shades. Apart from this, the updated range is equipped with the brand’s Laser Light as standard.

Engine & Performance

Just like the outgoing model, the new one will also be featuring a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine. The maximum output from this unit is rated at 617BHP and 750Nm of peak torque while being paired to an 8-speed M-Steptronic transmission. BMW proudly claims that the M8 Competition is available with an all-wheel-drive system. The most important part about this nicely integrated system is that it is switchable.

As claimed by the brand, the Coupe and Gran Coupe version of this sports car can clock a triple-digit speed in just 3.2 seconds. The Convertible’s performance is also decent and therefore, it can do a 0-100kmph sprint in just 3.3 seconds.

Is it coming to India?

The last generation range was available in India. Well, this way, BMW will be coming up with the 2022 M8 Competition very soon. Recently, the brand has updated the X3 and therefore, one can expect to see other great products from the German marque in 2022.
