Looks like BMW was desperately waiting to reveal its new design language. The result is a desperate-looking 2022 X7 and the Bavarian carmaker even thinks that other products from the lineup should also go with similar changes. Well, you could expect a matching 7-Series very soon!

Returning back to the all-new X7, it has been revised on various fronts for MY2022 and since it is India-bound, here are all the details related to it down below.

HIGHLIGHTS:

2022 BMW X7

Being the flagship SUV, X7 is the first one from the lineup to go through a major makeover. The front end has been completely revised with lots of updates. For example, BMW has introduced a pair of split LED headlights where the higher section is reserved for the DRLs that even work as the indicator. Lower down are the Matrix LED headlamps that are flawless in terms of visibility.

The other update might disappoint you and to be a little more precise, the signature kidney grille is larger than before. Sad, isn’t it? Thankfully, the top-end variant is now available with an illuminated unit. Meanwhile, talking about the other two variants, this feature is said to be optional.

On the outside, there’s another prominent update and that is in the form of 23-inch alloy wheels on the range-topping variant. The interesting part about this update is that BMW is offering 23-inch wheels for the first time as standard.

The cabin remains more or less similar to the outgoing model. However, let’s get into the details as the 2022 BMW X7 is now available with the brand’s latest iDrive control with OS 8 available as standard. The first screen that sits in the middle is a 12.3-inch unit while the driver’s display is slightly larger and is said to measure somewhere around 14.9-inches.

A host of safety features such as front collision warning, active cruise control and park assistant have also been updated keeping in mind the occupants’ safety.

The 3.0-litre six-cylinder power units have been retained, albeit with a 48V mild-hybrid system as standard. Starting with the xDrive40i petrol variant, it uses a retuned engine that produces 380 horsepower and 520Nm of peak torque. Since there is a mild-hybrid system available onboard, the peak torque now rises up to 540Nm for immediate throttle response.

BMW is still relying on diesel motor to diversify its portfolio. As a result, the xDrive40d variant is still capable of propelling 352 horsepower and 700Nm. Similar to what we have witnessed on the petrol variant, the mild-hybrid system here pushes the peak torque to 720Nm.

There’s a separate M60i xDrive variant made specifically for enthusiasts. It comes powered by a 4.4-litre M TwinPower Turbo V8 engine with overall output rated at 530 horsepower and 750Nm. Surprisingly, even this one is available with a mild-hybrid system as standard.

Another crucial part of the setup is an 8-speed Steptronic Sport gearbox which is said to be a part of the entire range.
