Volkswagen Polo was first introduced in 1975. Also, this quick hatchback has already completed over 11 years in India itself. The German brand might not have updated it for the Indian market. But, globally, Polo gets timely updates and is currently present in its sixth-gen avatar.

Finally, the company has revealed the 2022 Volkswagen Polo globally. And, this time, it is available with almost all the updates that any modern luxury car in today’s world comes with. For now, the updated hatchback is not going anywhere while staying relevant to current market conditions. Want to know what all changes can be witnessed on the all-new Polo? Is it coming to India? Well, straightway heading to answer that.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Volkswagen has revealed the all-new Volkswagen Polo for the international market.
  • It will now be available in three trims including Life, Style and R-Line.
  • The German brand has not confirmed anything about its launch in India.

Just like the Volkswagen Golf that comes with the Style and R-Line trims, even the updated Polo will now be available with the same trim levels. To be precise, the Style variant will get a pair of IQ.LIGHT LED Matrix headlamps, chrome finished crossbars for the grille, LED foglights and a set of 15-inch Ronda alloy wheels.

In addition to the Style variant, the R-Line trim will bring its customers a sportier version of the Polo hatchback. For starters, it will get dedicated sports bumpers on both ends. Further, the German carmaker has used a lot of gloss-black elements to enhance the sportier appeal. For instance, the hatchback will now be available with a similarly treated diffuser with exhaust pipes finished in chrome. Another change for this variant will be 16-inch Valencia alloy wheels that will be offered as standard.

The base variant continues to offer standard features such as LED headlights, multifunction steering wheel and electrically adjustable wing mirrors on the outside. Meanwhile, on the inside, the powerful hatchback comes with Digital Cockpit, 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, centre airbag and power windows among others. Go for the specification package and features such as additional USB C ports, leather finished steering and 15-inch alloy wheels will get unlocked. To be precise, the regular Style variant runs on smaller 14-inch alloy wheels.

Is it coming to India? Not anytime soon. However, Volkswagen will bring a heavily localised Polo that will use the MQB A0 IN platform. We are not sure but it will be the sixth generation Polo that will be considered for the Indian market.
