Tata Motors has updated its flagship product from the lineup – the Tata Safari, making it future-ready. Now, the updates on the SUV are major. Major to such an extent that it almost feels like something from at least 2050, aligned with the changes on the Nexon.
Wondering what these changes are all about? Let’s take a look at the details below.
Exterior
The original silhouette we already witnessed on the new generation Safari has been carried out on the updated model as well. However, to differentiate it, the SUV features new bumpers (both front and rear), lights (again, both headlamps and tail lamps) and grille. Then, we even have new housing for headlamps and fog lamps finished in black to give it a premium look.
The 2023 Safari sits on 19-inch alloy wheels reserved for the top-end variant. Then, there are two more tyre sizes available (17 and 18 inches) but on the lower variants.
Interior
The cabin of the 2023 Tata Safari is far ahead than what it used to be on the outgoing model. A new steering wheel fixed on a multi-layer dashboard along with premium screens are there to take it to the next level. Tata says that the brand logo on the steering wheel is now backlit. This way, it offers a more premium experience to the customers, something that is least expected from a flagship SUV.
The first screen on the dashboard is a driver’s display. The carmaker has decided to offer a completely digital unit for the first time. Then, the other unit measures 12.3-inch featuring Apple CarPlay as well as Android Auto.
In terms of features, Tata Safari comes with an electric parking brake, multiple charging sockets, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, an electric tailgate, etc to name a few.

Safety
For occupants’ safety, the 2023 Safari is loaded with 6 airbags, knee airbags (restricted to top-end variant) and for the first time ADAS among others.
Engine & Transmission
Powering it will be a potent 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that produces 170 horsepower and 350Nm. Tata says it works in conjunction with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. But, in case the customers need added convenience, the automatic variant is also available for sale.
Rivals
The rivalry has heated up with Tata Safari getting some crucial updates. Just like the outgoing model, this one continues to compete with Mahindra XUV700, MG Hector Plus and Hyundai Alcazar to name a few.
