Volkswagen Vento & Polo (Matt Edition)
Exterior & Design
Since it is a special edition version let’s start with the updates. To begin with, both the cars are now available with a carbon steel grey matte shade with some of the panels such as wing mirrors and door handles finished in gloss black. The picture above also confirms that the alloy wheels will be featuring a silver colour scheme.
The carmaker has even tried to retain the chrome panels on the grille. Interestingly, features such as rain-sensing wipers and sportier headlamps are also there as a part of the standard equipment.
Interior
No changes have been made on the inside. Therefore, a touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, rear parking camera and similar features will be there as standard.
Engine
Powering the new range of Polo and Vento is the same 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that is truly capable of producing a decent 110PS of power with a peak torque of 175Nm. For transmission duties, Volkswagen has decided to offer a sole 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox for the Matt Edition.
Pricing & 4EVER Care Pack
Volkswagen has priced the new Vento Matt Edition at Rs.11.91 Lakhs and goes all the way up till Rs.13.34 Lakhs while the similar edition of Polo will cost you somewhere around Rs.9.99 Lakhs (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).
The German brand is also offering a new 4EVER Care pack that comes with a four-year warranty, three no-cost services and four-year roadside assistance across the country.
Alternatives
Volkswagen Polo will continue to compete against the likes of Tata Altroz, Hyundai i20 and Maruti Suzuki Baleno. For now, check out the Skoda Rapid’s Matte Edition that is expected to go head-on against the likes of this new version of Vento.
Skoda Rapid Matt Edition
Recently, Skoda introduced the all-new Matte Edition for Rapid with a price starting at Rs.11.99 Lakhs. The limited-run is still available with a potent 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine that churns out a decent 110PS and 175Nm of peak torque. In terms of features, Rapid comes loaded with an air ioniser, twin airbags, a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a rearview camera to name a few.
