A few days ago, we confirmed that Volvo is all set to introduce the XC90 with a mild hybrid system. As expected, the SUV has finally made its debut with a price tag starting at Rs.89.90 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The main motive behind introducing these new models is to improve the overall power and fuel efficiency. Also, according to Volvo, the brand has decided to become carbon neutral by 2050 and this is definitely the first step towards achieving that goal.

Volvo XC90 Mild-Hybrid
Exterior & Colour Schemes
On the outside, the XC90 mid-hybrid remains just like the petrol-only model. A new pair of LED headlights, new bumpers, sporty alloy wheels and a signature Volvo grille is all you will be getting.
Multiple colour shades including – Denim Blue, Onyx Black, Pine Grey and Crystal White Pearl are part of the new palette.
Interior
The cabin of the new XC90 mild-hybrid remains exactly the same as the outgoing model. For starters, the dashboard still comes with a multifunctional steering wheel, heads-up display, 12-inch fully digital instrument cluster and a large touchscreen infotainment system.
Other features such as four-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, air ioniser, wireless charger, voice control and a 19-speaker sound system from Bowers and Wilkins are also a part of the standard equipment.
Engine & Powerplant
Under the hood, it is still available with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. However, a mild-hybrid system has been introduced that pushes the overall output to a massive 300HP and 420Nm of peak torque while being mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The SUV also comes with a four-wheel-drive system but is definitely not meant for hardcore offroading.
Other Details
Volvo has confirmed that the brand will be offering a 3-year service package for just Rs.75,000 at the time of purchase. Apart from the regular services, it also covers all sorts of wear and tear for a period of three years.
Alternatives
Globally, Volvo XC90 compares with other luxury SUVs including BMW X5, Land Rover Discovery, Mercedes-Benz GLE and Audi Q7. Want to learn more about the 2021 Discovery? Here are all the details related to it down below.
Land Rover Discovery
Tell us when last time you find something this practical? Well, the major reason behind calling it practical is the 7-seater layout and the unmatched off-road capability. Interestingly, it is available with three engine options in India and two of them are petrol units. The third one is obviously a mile-munching diesel motor with a six-cylinder onboard. Feature-wise, Discovery comes loaded with four-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, air filter and an 11.4-inch Pivi Pro infotainment system among others.
