India has witnessed a slow but steady rise in demand for maxi-scooter in recent times. Initially, it was Suzuki that introduced Burgman Street for the Indian market. However, after some time, Aprilia launched the SXR 160 that was priced much higher than any of the 160cc bikes available here. To be precise, the Aprilia SXR 160 was never a value for money deal to the customers in India.
The Italian bike manufacturer has again pitched the all-new Aprilia SXR 125 at Rs.1.16 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). Is the price tag justified? Well, heading straightaway to answer that.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Suzuki has launched the all-new Suzuki SXR 125 at Rs.1.16 Lakhs for the Indian market.
- It is available with a 124.45cc single-cylinder engine that produces 9.38HP and 9.2Nm of torque.
- The all-new Aprilia SXR 125 will get a combined braking system unlike the ABS available on the 160cc version.
Aprilia SXR 125
In terms of design, the all-new SXR 125 looks similar to the SXR 160. Just like the elder sibling, even this one comes with twin LED headlights with DRLs, a tall wind visor and wing mirrors at the front. Interestingly, the bike manufacturer has introduced the same colour shades including Matte Blue, Glossy White, Matte Black and Glossy Red on the SXR 125 as well.
Feature-wise, SXR 125 comes with an LCD instrument cluster, USB charging port, smartphone connectivity and all-LED lighting. Sadly, the ABS from the SXR 160 are now replaced by the Combined Braking System (CBS). The all-new scooter also features a large 7-litre fuel tank, under-seat storage and lockable front storage space among others.
At the front, it comes equipped with a telescopic fork. Meanwhile, at the back, there is a monoshock setup that fulfils the entire suspension duties. Also, it rides on 12-inch alloy wheels that does not help much in terms of ride quality.
At the heart, it is available with the same 124.45cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that we have already witnessed on the SR 125. But to be precise, Aprilia has tuned it differently for this maxi-scooter. Talking in numbers, this motor now produces a decent 9.38BHP of power @ 7,600 RPM alongside a peak torque of 9.2Nm @ 6,250 RPM.
Alternatives
In India, Aprilia SXR 125 is going to compete with the Suzuki Burgman Street 125. Want to know more about its primary rival? Here are all the details just for you.
Suzuki Burgman Street 125
Currently, Suzuki retails Burgman Street 125 with a price starting at Rs.84,401 (Ex-showroom, Delhi). Interestingly, the Bluetooth variant of the max-scooter comes with a premium price tag of Rs.88,401 (ex-showroom, Delhi). For starters, it is available with a 124cc single-cylinder engine that produces 8.58HP and 10Nm of peak torque. Features on the Suzuki Burgman Street 125 are similar to the Aprilia SXR 125. Just to name a few, even Burgman Street comes with a fully digital instrument console and LED lighting. So is it better than the SXR 125? Well, we cannot comment on that right now. However, the pricing of the Burgman is way better than the other which makes it a value for money deal.
