Petrol and diesel prices are continuously soaring high and if someone is still not convinced why one should switch to electric, then we don’t know what exactly can change their mind. Keeping all this aside, it is seriously the future. It’s more eco-friendly, accessible and comparatively requires a lower level of maintenance.

Today, Audi has launched the e-Tron SUV for the Indian market with a price starting at just Rs.99.99 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). Wondering why we have used just? Well, because it is a premium SUV that offers almost all the features and creature comfort available in this world. It’s just that it won’t be having an Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) onboard. According to the German brand, the new e-Tron will be available as a standard and Sportback variant.

First and foremost, the bookings have already been started for all of them against a token amount of Rs.5 Lakhs. People who are interested can visit their nearest dealership or Audi’s official website.

Talking about the SUVs, all of them remain similar at the front with a large grille, slim LED headlights and sportier bumper. The side profile of the e-Tron and e-Tron Sportback will remind you of a conventional Audi SUV. However, at the rear, the Sportback version gets a sloping roof for a coupe-like effect. Both of them are available with 20-inch alloy wheels as standard.

Interior

Inside the cabin, there are several features that make it one of the most practical electric SUVs yet. Features such as a Virtual Cockpit, 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a secondary 8.8-inch screen for climate control are available as standard. However, the 55 Quattro variant is there to bring several additional equipment such as a powered tailgate, large panoramic sunroof, 4-zone climate control and adaptive suspension just to name a few. Surprisingly, like the normal SUVs, the 55 Quattro variants will continue to get an optional Technology Pack.

Powertrain and Charging

Talking about the powertrain, the e-Tron 50 Quattro gets twin electric motors that produce 313HP and 540Nm of peak torque together. It is currently available with a 71kWh battery that returns a range of somewhere between 264-379km (WLTP range).

Other than this, the e-Tron Quattro 55 and e-Tron Quattro 55 Sportback comes with a larger 95kWh battery pack which returns
a claimed range of somewhere around 359-484kmph (WLTP cycle). Just like the entry-level variant, even this one is available with twin electric motors that churn out a combined output of 408HP and 664Nm of peak torque. All of this setup together translates to a 0-100kmph sprint in just 5.7 seconds.

Coming to the charging, the 91kWh battery can juice up from 0-80 per cent in just 8.5 hours with an 11kWh AC charger. Using a 150kWh DC charger, it can juice up similarly in just 30 minutes. Audi also claims that they will be providing a 22kWh AC charging converter.
