HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Q7 Facelift is expected to make its debut within this week.

Audi Q7 Facelift

The exact details related to the 2022 Q7 is still not available. However, as per our sources, the updated range is expected to come with either a VW sourced 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit or a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit. Currently, the former one obviously produces a decent 252HP. Meanwhile, the latter one is capable of churning out a massive 335 horsepower and 500Nm of peak torque.

Also, Audi is willing to introduce a conventional mild-hybrid system on the new Q7 to improve the overall output and fuel efficiency. Transmission duties for this setup will be managed by an 8-speed automatic transmission with an all-wheel-drive system available as standard.

The all-new Q7 will be available in two different trims, including – Technology and Premium Plus. This way, we can expect both of them to remain slightly different from each other in terms of features. Talking in general, it is expected to get a large 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, four-zone climate control, flat-bottom steering wheel, large panoramic sunroof, fully digital driver’s display, etc just to name a few.

On the outside, the 2022 Audi Q7 will be available with a large grille. Other updates that are visible on the new SUV are a pair of new Matrix LED headlights, sportier bumper, wide air intakes and large alloy wheels.

Alternatives

Globally, Audi has placed the new Q7 as a prime rival to the updated Land Rover Discovery, BMW X5, Volvo XC90 and Mercedes-Benz GLS. Since the German marque will stick to its petrol-only model policy in India, we expect it to directly compete against the likes of XC90.

Volvo recently announced a price hike and because of that, the new XC90 will now cost a premium of Rs.1 Lakh. Under the hood, it is available with a sole 2.0-litre petrol engine that churns out a decent 296BHP and 420Nm on the entry-level variant. The top-end variant with a mild-hybrid system comes with an overall output rated at 400BHP and 640N that makes it powerful enough to compete against other rivals. Feature-wise, the 2022 Volvo XC90 is loaded with four-zone climate control, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof and a fully digital driver’s display which is very similar to the upcoming Audi A7.
