Almost a decade after being discontinued by Bajaj, the Avenger Street 180 brings back the 180 cc on the avenger and is likely to replace the Street 150 in the cruiser’s lineup. The Avenger was originally launched with the 180 cc single-cylinder engine but was discontinued.

Images of the new Bajaj Avenger Street 180 have been leaked on the internet and netizens are having a field day over it. The Street 180 carries the styling upgrades that were introduced on the Avenger Street 220 such as the single-seat, exhaust and rear-grab rail. The headlamp cluster and new decals are added to the Street 180 while the instrument cluster remains analog, unlike the 220 which has a digital console. The Street 180 also gets a small fly screen.

Bajaj borrows the 178.6 cc single-cylinder engine from the Pulsar 180 which is tuned to produce 17 BHP at 8500 RPM and 14.22 Nm of torque at 6500 RPM which is paired to a 5-speed gearbox.. These numbers are expected to be the same for the Bajaj Street 180. Other mechanicals like dual shock absorbers, telescopic forks in the front with fork gaiters and a front disc brake with a drum brake setup at the rear are also unchanged from the Pulsar 180. Since cruisers are a bit heavier than the street machines, the new engine could help users enjoy impressive acceleration. Bajaj may rework on the gear ratios as per the cruiser’s requirements and it is also expected to come with a single-channel Anti-Braking System.

The Avenger originally started with a 180 cc engine and now it’s life has turned a full-circle! The new Avenger Street is said to be priced around 83,400 (ex-showroom, Bangalore), which is 15,000 cheaper than its direct competitor, the Suzuki Intruder 155 but a bit expensive than the Street 150.
