TVS Apache RR 310 Vs BMW G 310 RR

This rivalry is going to be intense and there are multiple reasons behind it. The first one is that the all-new BMW G 310 RR is based on the Apache 310 RR itself. This way, the underpinnings, platforms and engines are exactly the same on both sports bikes. Another interesting bit about the newer BMW G 310 RR is that it is going to get manufactured at TVS’s Hosur Plant. So basically, it’s a slightly revised and also a rebadged version of the already popular, TVS Apache 310 RR.

Confused between the two of them? Here is a quick comparison that can help you figure out which one is suitable and why.

The plan is to capture the premium entry-level segment in India and BMW is seriously doing a great job towards it. Recently, the German bike manufacturer has decided that they will enter the entry-level sports bike segment and that’s the only reason why the all-new BMW G 310 RR has finally made its debut in India.

The design is more or less similar to the Apache RR 310 except for a few changes such as the new windscreen and BMW badging. Also, two exclusive shades including Black and White have replaced the ones that are available on its counterpart. The changes are not limited to cosmetic ones and therefore, the petal disc brakes that were offered in the Apache RR 310 are gone. Instead, the conventional round-shaped units have been introduced for unknown reasons. Sadly, even the Bluetooth connectivity has gone for a toss due to this transition.

It uses a powerful 312.2cc single-cylinder engine with overall output rated at 33.5 horsepower and 27.3Nm when switched to Sport or Track mode. There’s even a mode called Rain and Urban, where the power drops down to 25.5 horsepower and 25Nm of peak torque.

For transmission duties, this engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox.

Priced at a premium of Rs.2.85 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi), BMW G 310 RR will cost Rs.20,000 more.

TVS is a strong contender when it comes to performance and sports bikes because of their recent developments. The bike manufacturer is working with BMW and we think, that’s enough to tell you how well they know the market.

In terms of design, it feels aggressive with bi-projector LED headlamps, a massive windscreen and a muscular fuel tank. Another interesting bit about the features is that the bike comes with a massive TFT instrument display that shows all the required information along with Bluetooth connectivity. Just like the above bike, this one comes with four ride modes namely – Urban, Rain, Sport and Track as standard.

The engine that powers the all-new BMW G 310 RR is the same that we get on the Apache RR 310. As mentioned above, even the outputs are exactly the same depending upon the ride modes. This way, the transmission setup is also shared by both bikes.

TVS has priced the all-new Apache RR 310 at Rs.2.65 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). This way, it will compete with other sports bikes such as Kawasaki Ninja 300 and KTM RC 390 to name a few.

Conclusion

Not much has changed on the new entry-level BMW sports bike when compared to the original TVS Apache RR 310. This way, the choice is only about the brand tag and price difference that both the bikes come with. Plus there are some features, for instance, Bluetooth connectivity that has been dropped from the G 310 RR but is available on the Apache.
