The entire luxury car market did well at the start of this year, and it includes almost all the big names. Interestingly, BMW Group India is also a part of this amazing feat, as the luxury automaker confirmed that it has sold around 3680 cars and 1810 bikes in total.

BMW Group’s Sales Performance In Q1 2024
To bifurcate the 3680 units, BMW Group confirmed that around 3510 are BMW cars, SUVs and EVs. Meanwhile, the other 170 units are comprised of MINI cars (both EV and ICE-powered). BMW Motorrad, on the other hand, sold 1810 units of motorbikes in India in the first quarter of 2024.
Starting with the electric vehicles, the brand sold 211 units, up by 26% in Q1, 2024. As claimed by BMW, the i7 was the best seller with other models, including the iX, i4, iX1 and MINI SE following. The luxury SUVs and saloons also did well significantly, with around 152% growth. To be precise, around 20% of cars and SUVs sold from these include models such as the 7 Series, i7, X7 and XM.
The SAV or Sports Activity Vehicles, as BMW says, also did great contributing 54% of sales cumulatively. The number is said to be up by 62%, helping the BMW Group post strong sales numbers here in India.
In terms of the best-performing sedan, it was the 3-Series that became the best seller for the brand. The Financial Service Business also managed to do well in India. The brand confirmed that out of 10 cars financed, 8 were financed by BMW India Financial Services.
At the time of the announcement, Mr Vikram Pahwa, President of BMW Group India, said, “BMW Group India has posted strong performance in the first quarter of the year. Breaking earlier records, Q1 car sales achieved new heights with successful growth of +51%! Our key car models are at the top of their game, and with significant new launches in the pipeline, we will raise the heat in the luxury market.”
