If something is well balanced then undoubtedly it is the BMW 5 Series. Being the brand’s best-seller it packs performance, practicality and not so hefty pricing that allows it to sell like hotcakes. The carmaker launched the last-gen 5 Series back in 2017 for the Indian market and since then, the updates are pending. Just like any other BMW car, even the 5 Series is now coming in an all avatar. As decided, the German brand is coming up with the updated sedan on Thursday, 24th June.
Want to know more about the all-new BMW 5 Series? Well, here are some assumptions we have made keeping in mind the international model. Go check it out.
New BMW 5 Series
Exterior & Design
The front profile of the updated 5 Series will feature a dramatic swap. Starting with the headlights which are angular than ever, larger kidney grille (unlike what we get on the 4 Series), reworked bumpers and an altered pair of LED taillamps together entirely changes the overall design language.
The side profile does remain similar to the outgoing model, but the new twin five-spoke alloy wheels further enhance the overall appearance.
Interior
The cabin of the 2021 BMW 5 Series does feel more premium than ever with lots of technology. Just to begin with, a BMW’s latest 10.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system will now be available as standard across all variants. The climate controls are also new with a black centre console for an upmarket feel. According to the carmaker, multiple features will be there starting from the entry-level variants only.
Engine & Powertrain
Looks like BMW has decided to choose a greener path. Wondering how? A 48V mild-hybrid technology across the trim and a PHEV variant is now there as a part of this mid-life update.
We don’t know if BMW will choose a similar path for the Indian market, but customers are expected to get the older 2.0L four-cylinder petrol engine with 252HP on the 530i variant for sure. Similarly, the 520d will continue to get a 190HP, 2.0L four-cylinder diesel and the 530d with 265HP, 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine onboard.
Surprisingly, another new variant called the M550i has also made its debut with a 523HP, 4.4-litre V8 engine this time. As expected, an 8-speed Steptronic gearbox will be available across the entire range.
Alternatives
A lot of exact details are expected to be out on the day of its launch. In India, the all-new BMW 5 Series will compete against some well-established rivals such as Audi A6, Volvo S90, Jaguar XF and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Want to know more about its prime competitor?
