Worldwide, BMW is commemorating the 50th anniversary of its M division. For those who are unfamiliar, the M Division is BMW’s performance line just like how AMG exists for Mercedes. To celebrate this, BMW India recently unveiled the brand-new 5 Series 50 Jahre M Edition, which will be made in India at the BMW Group Plant in Chennai.

Exterior & Design

The brand-new 5 Series 50 Jahre M Edition has undergone several exterior visual updates, including new paint colours and a set of sportier alloy wheels. These colours include M Carbon Black, Phytonic Blue, Bernina Grey Amber Effect, and Alpine White.

The limited edition 5 Series now features a ’50 Years of M’ projection, which is another intriguing aspect of the model. Similar modifications include the kidney grille, redesigned wheel arches, and L-shaped taillamps.

Additionally, customers will have the option to further improve the overall appearance. The Racer’s Package will therefore enhance the look with side skirt transfers and a rear spoiler. Side mirrors with a carbon fibre cover are a feature of the Motorsport Package, which elevates the whole experience. Then there is a Carbon Package, which uses carbon fibre to cover the majority of the accessories.

Interior

The limited-edition sedan’s interior features a simple layout and a cockpit that is driver-focused. According to the brand, it has been built so that the driver can be at ease over a lengthy drive. The 5 Series 50 Jahre M Edition comes fitted with sports seats. Surprisingly, the update for this model also includes other improvements including edition-specific coverings and seat belts.

Regarding other adjustments, the entire space now has a distinctive touch for controls and BMW Individual finishes in Piano Black. There is plenty of room for luggage, and the 50 Jahre M Edition of the 5 Series now has a boot carrying capacity of 600 litres that can be increased to a maximum of 1800 litres.

Engine & Transmission

A mighty 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine powers the special edition premium sedan. This motor has a 252 horsepower and 350Nm maximum torque rating.

It currently has an 8-speed Steptronic transmission that can be shifted with a paddle. The all-new BMW 5 Series 50 Jahre M Edition is among the fastest in its segment in terms of performance, sprinting from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in under 6.1 seconds.

Last but not least, BMW continues to place a high priority on safety. Therefore, six airbags, Dynamic Stability Control, ABS, Cornering Brake Control, side impact protection, and more are all standard on the BMW 5 Series 50 Jahre M Edition. In India, it costs as little as Rs. 67.5 Lakhs to own this limited-edition vehicle (ex-showroom, Delhi).
