BMW has finally decided to introduce the all-new M Performance car in India. And for that, the German carmaker is ready to launch the BMW M340i on 10th March. This will be the first M Performance car that will be assembled in the country. However, do not confuse this with the full-blown M3 Competition that produces 480HP.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • BMW is all set to launch the all-new M340i xDrive in India.
  • It will roll out in the market on 10th March with a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine.
  • The upcoming BMW M340i will directly rival the Mercedes AMG C43 in India.

When launched, the all-new BMW M340i is expected to remain similar to the international variant. However, if it happens that way, the M Performance car will come equipped with a revised bumper, M-Sport suspension setup and bigger disc brakes on both ends. Also, the sportier sedan will get a newly designed front grille finished with chrome elements and 19-inch alloy wheels among others.

The layout of the cabin is somehow similar to what we see on the regular 3 Series. It comes with an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment display, three-zone climate control, BMW Live Cockpit Plus, auto-dimming IRVM, ambient lighting, etc. among several others. Also, the infotainment system on this M Performance car will be supporting Android Auto as well as Apple CarPlay.

Engine and Powertrain

Coming to the engine, this luxury sedan gets a 3.0-litre six-cylinder, twin-turbocharged unit that is capable of producing a massive 374HP. Further, the peak torque from the same stands at 500Nm. Interestingly, to produce such high power figures it comes mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox with BMW’s xDrive four-wheel drive technology.

Estimated Price

BMW will be revealing the price of the M340i sedan on the date of its launch. However, this variant after the launch will sit just above the recently launched BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine. Therefore, expect it to come with a price tag over Rs.50 Lakhs (ex-showroom).

Rivals

Globally, the all-new BMW M340i sedan competes against the Audi S4 and Mercedes AMG C43 4Matic. Interestingly, all three sedans come powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged petrol engine. However, when compared to the BMW M340i, Audi A4 produces only 349HP.

Meanwhile, the latest generation Mercedes AMG C43 4Matic is capable of producing a massive 390HP that makes it the most expensive performance sedan among the other two. Currently, Audi has discontinued the S4 trim in India but is expected to reintroduce the updated sedan soon.
