HIGHLIGHTS:

Showcased as a concept in 2019, BMW R 18 becomes the first cruiser bike by BMW Motorrad.  The BMW R 18 retains a traditional old look of a cruiser while being loaded with technology.

The engine that powers the BMW R 18 is a 1802cc two-cylinder, air cooled unit. It produces 91BHP of power with a peak torque of 150Nm. Meanwhile, BMW calls the engine on the BMW R 18 as the “Big Boxer”. The transmission duties on the cruiser bike works under a six-speed gearbox.

However, based on a double steel tube frame BMW R 18 gets a round headlamp, bobber style seat, spoke rims as well as broad handlebars. Likewise, the wheels on the front of the BMW R 18 is a 21-inch spoke unit while the rear gets an 18-inch spoke unit.

BMW is also offering two variants with the R 18 – the Standard and First edition. Coming to the First edition that gets a hand painted white stripes on the fuel tank for enhanced look will be the entry level variant. However, the features on the First edition are limited to cosmetic enhancement and no electronics are offered on it.

Meanwhile, what comes as standard is the disc brakes both at the front as well as rear. Other feature such as the Automatic Stability Control for better safety is also offered with the BMW R 18. However, the rider can disengage the ASC as per his personal preference.

The BMW R 18 gets three different riding modes like – Rain, Roll and Rock for better riding experience. Meanwhile, the riding on the R 18 is extremely comfortable as it gets laid back positioning with “mid-mounted footpegs”.

BMW Motorrad is all set to roll out the BMW R 18 in India on 19th September. However, the company has already started the pre-bookings for its cruiser bike long ago.
