The new 5-Series is still pending for its debut in India. However, BMW has confirmed that the automaker is first coming up with an electric alternative to the same. In terms of design, it is very similar to the new generation 5-Series and that could give you enough idea of how the upcoming range might look like.

Powering the luxury sedan are twin electric motors that produce a combined output of 601 horsepower and 820Nm, pushing the sedan to clock a triple-digit speed in just 3.8 seconds. The top speed of the i5 M60 is electronically limited to 230kmph.

It also features the BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system to offer enough grip on the corners if pushed hard.

Here, credit goes to an 81.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack for returning a decent WLTP-certified range that stands around 516 kilometres. For a hassle-free experience, BMW itself confirms that the i5 comes with an 11kW AC charger. The customer also has the power to opt for a 22kW charger, and in case someone wants more, the EV can be charged using a 205kW DC charger. This fast DC charger can juice up the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in just 30 minutes.

BMW has not announced the price of the i5 yet. However, the German marque has confirmed that the deliveries will start from May 2024 onwards.
