With the launch of BS-VI compliance in the country, the German luxury brand has decided to cut the prices of both BMW G 310 R which was retailing at a price tag of Rs 2.99 lakh and BMW G 310 GS which was priced at Rs 3.49 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom), for the BS-IV models. Seeing the current situation amid pandemic, BMW Motorrad has not decided yet for any up-gradation of G 310 R and G 310 GS motorcycles to BS-VI emission norms by the government authorities.

As per the reports from the company officials, BMW is planning to launch the upgraded bikes by August or September this year, prevailing the condition of COVID-19 Outbreak. Due to the norms, the company has decided that both the earlier model’s like G 310 R and G 310 GS are expected to get a massive price cut than the actual price at which they were launched. To be frank, it has been speculated that both the models could get a price cut around the range of Rs 75,000. Not only this decision will help the German automaker, attract a wider group of buyers but also now this decision could increase the competition in the respective price range. Due to the price cut, both the BMW luxury bikes will compete straight with the KTM Duke 390 which is priced at Rs 2.48 lakh ex-showroom price and KTM 390 ADV which is priced at Rs 2.99 lakh ex-showroom price respectively.

Both the bikes will retain the originally used 313 cc single-cylinder with liquid-cooled technology engine churning out 34 PS of maximum power and 28 Nm of peak torque and comes with a 6-speed transmission system. As expected in the transmission system similarly no changes will be made in the bikes’ suspension setup. Even the upgraded bikes’ which will be following BS6 norms will also continue to be equipped with the same upside-down front fork, along with a mono-shock setup at the rear. If we take a look at the braking system, both the models will be equipped with disc brakes on both ends, paired with a dual-channel ABS.

The BMW G 310 R roadster will be competing against Honda CB 300 R, as well as the KTM Duke 390 and G 310 GS adventure tourer will compete against the KTM 390 Adventure and Royal Enfield Himalayan.
