With the festive season arriving, BMW has again started completing its portfolio for the Indian market. The result is the German marque has decided to import a performance-oriented version of the X4 called the BMW X4 M40i with a price tag starting at Rs.96.20 Lakhs (ex-showroom, pan India).

BMW X4 M40i: What’s new?

Just like the standard X4, this performance-oriented M40i version is a coupe-SUV but with some minor tweaks to the exterior. To begin with, it is now available with a Dark BMW M Kidney grille, 20-inch blacked-out alloy wheels and M Shadow Line lights for the exterior.

The other change that makes the X4 M40i exclusive are the two colour options including Brooklyn Grey and Black Sapphire.

On the safety front, the BMW X4 M40i is loaded up to the brim. The list includes six airbags, Dynamic Stability Control, an electric parking brake, an engine immobilizer, a crash sensor, ISOFIX child seat mounts and Cornering Brake Control as standard.

Just like the exterior, the interior of the power-packed SUV features either a Black or Tacora Red option. In terms of features, it is equipped with a massive fully digital instrument cluster, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 16-speaker Harman Kardon Surround Sound System and M seat belts to name a few. The carmaker has also introduced several carbon fibre panels to give the SUV a premium look.

Performance is something the buyer will expect from the new X4 M40i and as per the German marque, it comes powered by a 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 360 horsepower and 500Nm. Available with BMW’s reliable 8-speed automatic gearbox and an xDrive all-wheel drive system, the SUV is capable of clocking a triple-digit speed in just 4.9 seconds. The top speed of the same is limited to 250kmph.

To improve the overall driving dynamics, BMW offers edition-specific brakes, adaptive suspension setup, variable sport steering and M Sport differential for cornering stability on the all-new BMW X4 M40i.

In India, the BMW X4 M40i compares with the power-packed Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4MATIC Coupe.
