Kodiaq was and will always be a promising product because of its practical nature. Sure, the list is endless but we are still waiting for the exact details related to the 2022 Kodiaq to be out soon. Interestingly, even bookings for the same has already started at the dealership level.

Searching for a family SUV? Check out the global version of the upcoming Skoda Kodiaq and find out if it suits your requirement or not.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Skoda is now accepting bookings for the 2022 Kodiaq.
  • It is expected to come with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol unit.
  • Several cosmetic & feature updates to be a part of MY22.

2022 Skoda Kodiaq

The Czech brand has introduced the facelifted version in three different trims globally. Now, coming to India, the exact details about which trim will be entering will be announced soon.

Starting with the updates, Skoda has tweaked the front end to align it with newer models. At the front, the grille, headlights, bumper and wing mirrors are revised to enhance the overall stance. The side profile is also expected to get a revision in the form of new alloy wheels. At the back, Kodiaq remains more or less similar to the outgoing version. Inside the cabin, it does feature some new panels and features such as a new twin-spoke steering wheel, fully digital instrument cluster, 10-speaker Canton surround sound system and a 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Other than this, even the interior is going to remind you of a typical Skoda affair and that is perfectly fine.

Sources suggest that Skoda will be using the same motor that we have already witnessed on the Octavia. For your information, it is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit with overall output rated at 190HP and 320Nm. Sadly, no manual transmission is expected this time and therefore, the updated Kodiaq will return with a 7-speed DSG gearbox as standard. The power will still be channelled to all four wheels. This way, just like the older model this one remains capable on tricky terrains as well.

Alternatives

Globally, Kodiaq competes with many similar sized SUVs. However, in India, it will go head-on against the likes of Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster. Want to learn more about Fortuner at a glance? Check out all the details related to it down below.

Kodiaq is all about simplicity while Fortuner can offer a lot more than that. The former SUV is extremely capable but for a similar price tag, Fortuner will bring you a lot of road presence and ruggedness. Available with two engine options, it comes equipped with either 2.7-litre four-cylinder petrol or a 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. Feature-wise, Fortuner feels slightly outdated when compared to the Kodiaq and just to be precise, it is loaded with ventilated seats, electronic locking differential, LED headlamps and wireless charger to name a few.
