Mumbai-based car maker Mahindra has started accepting bookings for its Scorpio BS6 model for RS 5,000. Booking is often done through the company’s website. Mahindra & Mahindra is ready to upgrade its product line in India in a few years. Homegrown automaker Scorpio will offer a generation change to four popular SUVs, the XUV500, Bolero and Thar. Additionally, it introduces facelifted versions of popular models, including the corporate TUV300. Internally known as the Mahindra Z10, the next generation Mahindra Scorpio will be one of the hit showrooms next year. The company’s second product is the new Mahindra Scorpio 2020 at Mahindra’s North American Technical Centre.

The new generation model of the SUV sits on the updated platform (Gen 3) and features a new design language. However, it still has a body-on-frame chassis. In addition, the new Mahindra Scorpio 2020 will have a more feature-packed interior, improved safety equipment and a more powerful engine. If the reports are to be believed, the SUV will leave the current 140bhp and 2.2lm-hoc diesel for the BS6-ready 160bhp and 2,0l-diesel. It also receives an automatic gearbox and FWD (front-wheel-drive) system. Mahindra’s new diesel powertrain is quieter and lighter (80kg) than the current 2.2-liter M-Hawk unit. The SUV can get an automatic drive with the more traditional 6-speed manual gearbox. It still comes with 2WD and 4WD options.

Indigenous carmaker has yet to announce the start date and details of the new generation Scorpio. Reports state that the BS6 emission norms will be applicable state-wide before the SU6 comes to market – i.e. April 1, 2020. Once the new SUV models are launched, the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo will enter. The updated 2020 Mahindra Scorpio sits underneath the updated underpinning, with better styling, a better interior and more security features. Instead of this SUV, the more powerful 2.0L diesel is available, which meets the upcoming BS6 emission standards. With these updates, the new Mahindra Scorpio 2020 gets a moderate price increase.

All new models of the SUV will be available in 5 trims – the S3, S5, S7, S9 and S 11. Prices start at Rs 12 lakh and go up to Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom). The newest Scorpio will still compete with the Tata Safari storm. Currently, the SUV is priced at Rs. 9.99 lakh (for the S3 variant below) – Rs.16.37 lakh (for the top-spec S11 variant). All Prices includes Ex-Showroom.
