Everybody knows that Isuzu is returning to India after a really long time with their best sellers. However, to begin with, the Japanese brand is not only introducing one but three utility vehicles (UVs) at the same time. We have covered the Isuzu MU-X already. So what are the other two? For starters, the company has introduced the BS6 compliant V-Cross. Apart from that, the entire lineup will now get one more addition named as Hi-Lander.
Want to know more about both the UVs? Here we have covered all the details down below.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Isuzu has introduced the updated V-Cross and new Hi-Lander in India starting at Rs.16.98 Lakhs.
- Both the UVs are available with a 1.9-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine on offer.
- The 2021 V-Cross will be more feature-rich when compared to the all-new Isuzu Hi-Lander.
2021 Isuzu V-Cross
For starters, V-Cross will continue to come in two variants, precisely – Z and Z Prestige. In terms of updates, it is now available with a BS6 compliant 1.9-litre turbocharged diesel motor that is tuned to churn out a massive 163HP and 360Nm of peak torque. When compared to the BS4 counterpart, the power figures are up by 13HP and 10Nm.
Interestingly, the entry-level variant of V-Cross is available with a 2WD powertrain and AT gearbox as standard. Meanwhile, the mid and top-end variants are available with an MT as well as AT with a 4WD powertrain respectively.
In terms of features, the updated Isuzu V-Cross comes equipped with projector LED headlamps, automatic climate control, a multifunctional steering wheel, leather seats, keyless entry and a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system among others. For enhanced safety, it will get multiple airbags, auto cruise control, ESC and traction control. Another thing to note is that all the features will vary according to the variants.
The carmaker has priced the Z trim between Rs.19.98 Lakhs to Rs.20.98 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Chennai). Meanwhile, the top-end Z Prestige variant comes with a premium price tag of Rs.24.49 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Chennai).
Isuzu Hi-Lander
In terms of powertrain and design, the all-new Isuzu Hi-Lander remains exactly the same. However, there are certain changes that differentiate both of them. To begin with, the Hi-Lander does not get a 4WD drive powertrain. Also, it is only available with a manual AC, 16-inch steel wheels, analogue instrument cluster with MID and power windows for all four doors. Just like these features, the safety aids on the Hi-Lander are limited. To be precise, it gets dual airbags, ABS and parking sensors on offer.
Isuzu has priced the all-new Hi-Lander at Rs.16.98 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Chennai).
Alternatives
Currently, there are no direct rivals to the all-new Isuzu V-Cross and Hi-Lander. However, in terms of price, it will compete against the likes of Tata Safari.
Tata Safari
Tata recently launched the updated Safari as a 7-seater version of the Harrier. In terms of design, it is rugged and bold. However, the only issue with the all-new Safari is that it does not get a 4WD powertrain. Unlike, the Isuzu V-Cross and Highlander, it is not a pickup truck. So why are we comparing both the UVs? It is because both of them falls at a similar price bracket and therefore customers can choose among them as per their requirement.
