Citroen C3 is already available for the European market but for now, this one is an entirely different model when compared to that specific one. The French carmaker has introduced the all-new C3 for emerging markets such as India and South Africa. This way, it will be the second offering after the C5 Aircross for Indian customers. The carmaker claims that the all-new C3 is 90 per cent localised which will definitely make it affordable, unlike the C5 Aircross. Want to learn more about it? Check out all the details down below.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Citroen C3 for emerging markets has finally made its debut.
- Expected to come powered by a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine.
- A large touchscreen infotainment system is a part of the list.
Citroen C3
Initially, the all-new C3 was codenamed CC21. Using the group’s CMP platform, the SUV looks absolutely appealing from all four ends. Citroen calls it a ” hatchback with a twist” and the major reason behind it is the entry of another new segment that is expected to sit between the crossover hatchbacks such as MS Ignis and the recently launched Renault Kiger (compact SUV).
Exterior
On the outside, C3 measures 3.98 meters in length. With a best in class space, decent ground clearance, muscular bonnet hood and a set of chunky alloy wheels, the all-new SUV feel big enough to compete with sub-four meter SUVs such as Nissan Magnite. Also, there are several dual-tone colour schemes that further enhances the overall stance of the new C3.
Interior
Inside the cabin, Citroen C3 comes with an extremely funky dashboard. There’s a coloured single panel that can be customised according to the owner’s choice and preferences. Further, a large 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system proudly sits on the centre of the dashboard.
The brand’s typical three-spoke steering wheel and a fully digital instrument cluster continue to be a part of the standard equipment list. According to Citroen, around 90 per cent of the parts of C3 are obtained locally which might result in an aggressive price tag. The pricing of this new hatchback has not been revealed yet.
Engine
The French carmaker has not specified anything regarding its powertrain yet. However, one can expect it to come equipped with a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Again, it is not confirmed but transmission duties for the upcoming C3 are expected to be managed by a 5-speed manual or an automatic gearbox.
Alternatives
In India, the all-new Citroen C5 will compete against the likes of the upcoming Tata Punch, Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite to name a few. Want to learn more about the Ignis? Check out all the details down below.
Maruti Suzuki Ignis
Maruti Suzuki pitched Ignis as a Mini SUV. However, it is more of a hatchback with an improved ride height. Under the hood, it comes powered by a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that churns out a massive 82BHP and 113Nm of peak torque. Feature-wise, it comes with LED projector headlamps, 15-inch alloy wheels, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, etc to name a few.
