Tata did almost everything right while introducing the Altroz. The only X factor that was missing happened to be a turbocharged variant. A few days later, after Hyundai launched the third-gen i20, the carmaker finally accepted that the demand for a turbo motor is considerably high and that’s how Tata Altroz iTurbo was born.
Recently, the PR team of the brand has announced a price revision. Thankfully, the revision aims to make most of the iTurbo variants a little more affordable.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Tata Altroz iTurbo is now affordable by up to Rs.8000.
- Comes powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol unit.
- Remains identical to the normal variants of Tata Altroz.

Exterior and Interior
In terms of design, the all-new Altroz looks absolutely stunning. The front portion of the hatchback gets a stylish grille flanked projector LED headlamps on either end. The side profile on the other hand is available with stylish alloy wheels. Coming to the rear end, it gets a chrome black treatment on the tailgate with LED taillamps for the entire range as standard.
Inside the cabin, Tata Altroz iTurbo is loaded with several features such as a floating touchscreen infotainment system, semi-digital driver’s display, cooled glovebox and ambient lighting. Other features such as Hinghlish voice command, dual airbags and automatic climate control are also a part of the feature’s list.
Engine & Powertrain
Tata Motors has deployed its potent 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine on the Altroz iTurbo. Surprisingly, the power figures aren’t that fascinating but still, this unit is capable of churning out a decent 108BHP and 140Nm of peak torque.
For transmission duties, it will be getting a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. To be more precise, all the power is channelled to front wheels only.
Alternatives
Hot hatch is a popular segment among enthusiasts. However, in India, it isn’t that big. Tata Altroz here will compete against the likes of other hatchbacks that come with turbocharged motors such as Hyundai i20 and Volkswagen Polo. Want to learn more about the i20 Turbo? Let’s check out all the details related to it down below.
Hyundai i20 Turbo
The second-generation model of the i20 was one of the best sellers for the brand and now, Hyundai is betting big on the third-gen model as well. Powered by a potent 998cc three-cylinder turbo petrol engine, this one produces a massive 118BHP and 171Nm of torque while being paired to either an iMT or a DCT gearbox.
Feature-wise, it is loaded with a wireless charger, electric single-pane sunroof, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, projector LED headlamp and six airbags to name a few.
