Harley Davidson’s debut in pre-owned segment in India might make it economical

Harley Davidson, popularly known for its loyal customers, is ready to enter the pre-owned bike segment in India. The US-based company on Saturday announced that it will operate under a new division named as Harley Davidson Originals.

The bike manufactured by Harley under this segment will undergo 99-point quality check assurance and a 1-year warranty which can be extended for 2 or more years.

The company commenced its operation in 2009 and presently has 17 models lined up to be distributed in a network of 28 outlets.

Reportedly, Harley Davidson has prepared a mid-term plan named “More Roads to Harley-Davidson” and is said to be working on small-displacement bike (250-500cc) for Asian region.

“The used bike’s business will enable us to attract more customers. Secondly, to enable people, perhaps who cannot afford a new Harley-Davidson, but at least get the right Harley-Davidson experience through an authorised dealership,” Harley-Davidson India, Managing Director, Peter Mackenzie said.

The company sells expensive yet luxurious motorcycles in India with its range beginning from ₹5.31 lakh and ending up to ₹50 lakh. The establishment of the new segment is because of its lowering sales in both India and the world as a whole.
