Recently, Skoda delayed the launch of the 2021 Octavia. Likewise, many other carmakers are either postponing or trying to avoid hosting such kind of events due to the second wave of the ongoing pandemic in India.

As expected, even Hyundai has rescheduled the launch of its upcoming 7-seater Alcazar SUV. For now, all we know is that the Korean carmaker will introduce it by the end of next month. However, the exact date is yet to be revealed by Hyundai soon.

Want to learn more about the Hyundai Alcazar? Here are all the details.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Hyundai has postponed the launch of its upcoming 7-seater Alcazar SUV.
  • No details regarding when it will be launched next have been revealed yet.
  • The upcoming Hyundai Alcazar will be available with petrol as well as a diesel engine.

Hyundai Alcazar

The looks of the upcoming 7-seater SUV is very familiar for the Indian market. To be precise, it looks very similar to the second-generation Hyundai Creta. But, these similarities last only at the front end. When compared to the Creta, Hyundai Alcazar comes with a 150mm longer wheelbase that stands at 2760mm. Interestingly, it is also the longest in the entire segment.

At the front, the Korean carmaker has introduced some minor cosmetic tweaks to differentiate it from the younger sibling. For starters, it gets a redesigned grille along with the bumper. At the bottom, the bumper is now covered with a skid plate. The side profile of the SUV features large wheel arches with a new set of nicely designed 18-inch alloy wheels.

Hyundai has not revealed the interior of the Alcazar yet. However, it is expected to come with a large 12.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging pad, automatic climate control, fully digital instrument cluster, 360-degree camera, etc. just to name a few. According to the sources, the upcoming SUV will also be available with either a 6 or a 7-seater layout according to the variant.

At the heart, Hyundai Alcazar will get a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. Talking in numbers, it will be able to produce a massive 159HP and a peak torque of 192Nm. Also, there is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel motor that extracts 115HP alongside 250Nm of torque. Both the engines are expected to come with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. But, customers can also go for a 6-speed automatic if they wish to.

Alternatives

When launched, Hyundai Alcazar will compete against the likes of Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus and the current-gen Mahindra XUV500. Want to know more about its prime rival? Here are the details of the all-new Tata Safari.

Tata Safari is similar to Hyundai Alcazar in several ways. To begin with, just like the Safari that is derived from the Tata Harrier, even the Alcazar is based on the Creta. Another similarity is that even Safari is available with a 6 as well as 7-seater layout. Currently, the Indian carmaker has priced it at Rs.14.69 Lakh onwards (ex-showroom, Delhi). And, if Hyundai puts a decent price tag on the Alcazar, then it will be a perfect rival to all the SUVs in its segment.
