It takes a lot to be a market leader and Hyundai Motor India Ltd. seems to be on the right path to reach that goal one day. The carmaker, today, has announced that it is planning to set up around 10 Ultra-Fast Public Charging Stations on major highways in the first half of CY2023. Of course, it sounds easy but translating it into the real world is easier for this brand.

At the time of this announcement, the Korean automaker even confirmed that it is assessing the current situation for further expansion but before jumping directly to that, check what the brand has to say about the same.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Hyundai is planning to boost India’s EV Infrastructure.
  • Aims at setting up around 10 charging stations by CY23.
  • Stations are capable of charging an IONIQ in 21 minutes.

Hyundai’s Boost To India’s Charging Infrastructure: What’s the exact plan?

Starting with what Jae Wan Ryu, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. boss has to say. While addressing the media, he says, “We are delighted to take another step in the direction of strengthening the Indian Government’s resolve for Electrification, which will enrich and augment the electric mobility lifestyle for EV adopters.

Hyundai Motor India Ltd. has been persistent in its efforts to enhance customer convenience by installing Ultra-Fast EV Charging Stations at strategic public locations across highways and cities.

With the recent launch of the globally acclaimed, the all-electric SUV Hyundai IONIQ 5 and HMI’s commitment to expanding its EV portfolio by 2028, we will catalyze our initiative of building a sustainable ecosystem for India’s transition towards electric mobility, and continue taking our customers ‘Beyond Mobility’.’’

So, the question is whether this new Ultra Fast Charging Station will be accessible to Hyundai EV owners only or even other EV owners can avail the benefits of the same? To answer this the brand explains that this is a public charging station and all the owners having an electric vehicle can charge their EVs by just visiting.

Hyundai confirms that the same is fast enough to charge an IONIQ 5 from 10% to 80% within 21 minutes resulting in a shorter wait time. Thankfully, people who own the brand’s electric car can visit my Hyundai App to find these charging stations.

Other benefits that Hyundai Customers will get from this app are pre-booking of the charging slots, digital payment, charging status, etc to name a few.

The charging tariffs are also going to be attractive. Meanwhile, the brand has ensured that enough amenities like restaurants and coffee shops near the station are available so that the customer can enjoy leisure time while charging their electric vehicle.

For assistance, Hyundai will even deploy marshals to help customers 24×7 if required.

Right now, two Ultra-Fast Charging stations have been inaugurated on Hyderabad-Vijayawada and Delhi-Chandigarh highways. However, the carmaker has affirmed that they will be touching other highways including Delhi-Jaipur, Mumbai-Pune, and Begaluru-Chennai.

Several key cities that are there in the pipeline are Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi NCR among others.
