Exterior & Design

The major changes are obviously on the outside and most of them are cosmetic ones. For starters, the all-new Hyundai i20 N-Line comes with a sportier bumper, new fog lamp housing and a completely blacked-out grille for an aggressive front profile. From other angles, it still looks like the normal i20. However, for a sportier design, the rear bumper has also been tweaked with sportier exhaust. According to the carmaker, the new i20 N-Line also comes with a rear spoiler that is known for improving the overall aerodynamic efficiency.

Interior

More or less, the i20 N-Line remains similar to the standard version when it comes to dashboard layout. Some visible updates in the form of metal pedals, three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel and ‘N’ branding are there to provide a unique identity to the all-new hatchback.

Additional features have also been introduced and to name a few, it comes with an updated Bluelink app with voice commands on board. Apart from this, it also comes with a conventional 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, electric sunroof, wireless charger and automatic climate control among others.

Hardware & Safety

There are minor changes when it comes to hardware. However, for a precise ride and handling, Hyundai has decided to introduce a reworked suspension setup. The exhaust pipes are also new and to be very frank, it produces a throatier sound. For improved braking, i20 N-Line will feature disc brakes on all four ends.

Let’s talk about safety. The new hatchback comes with 6 airbags, ESC, automatic headlamp and tyre pressure monitoring system to keep the occupants safe.

Engine & Powertrain

Under the hood, it features a potent 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine which is also available on the Turbo variant of standard i20. According to the spec sheet, this unit is capable of churning out a decent 120HP and 170Nm of peak torque. The all-new Hyundai i20 N-Line is not coming with a proper manual gearbox. Therefore, customers will find either a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT gearbox for the transmission duties.

Price List

To recall, the top-end variant of standard i20 comes with a price tag of Rs.11.40 Lakhs alongside a dual-tone exterior shade. Out of surprise, Hyundai has quoted the price of the new i20 N-Line at Rs.9.84 Lakhs for the N6 iMT variant. The N8 iMT on the other hand is priced at Rs.10.87 Lakhs while the top-end N8 DCT at Rs.11.75 Lakhs (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi). The only problem here is that all of them are currently under the introductory price offer and to be precise, the carmaker will make certain revisions very soon.

There’s no direct rival to the Hyundai i20 N-Line yet. However, the introduction of this sportier hatchback will surely push other carmakers to introduce something similar.
