Nobody could have ever thought of an SUV smaller than Creta but the introduction of Ford EcoSport changed the entire scenario for the Indian market. Hyundai introduced Venue as a gap filler between its premium hatchback and compact SUV. Surprisingly, just like the elder sibling, it was a best seller in no time.

Recently, this new but not so new product has achieved another milestone and according to the brand, they have already sold around 2.5 Lakh units of Venue since the day of its first launch.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Hyundai has sold over 2.5 Lakh units of Venue since its inception.
  • Three engines and multiple modern features to be the main reason.
  • Facelifted model of the same is expected to arrive in India by mid-22.

Hyundai Venue

People call it a scaled-down Creta but to differentiate, the carmaker has tweaked the front end to a great extent. To be a little more precise, this sub-four meter SUV features split LED projector headlamps, a large grille, a muscular bonnet hood and a sporty bumper at the front. Talking about the side profile, it does look like a smaller version of its elder sibling but at the back, it looks slightly different to the last-gen Creta.

Inside the cabin, the layout does remind you of regular Hyundai cars. Thankfully, a floating touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charger, automatic climate control, electric sunroof, crisp MID unit and a cooled glovebox enhance the overall practicality.

The most exciting bit about the Venue is it gets three engine options. The first one is obviously a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that churns out a decent 81BHP and 113Nm of peak torque. The other one is a mile-munching 1.5-litre diesel unit with overall output rated at 98BHP and 240Nm. For Venue, the brand has even introduced a powerful 118BHP, 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine.

As stated by the Korean carmaker, these engines are available with a manual, iMT, torque converter and DCT gearbox depending upon the variant. Currently, this SUV is priced between Rs.6.99 Lakhs to Rs.11.85 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). According to the sources, the facelifted model will be coming to India by mid-2022.

The facelifted Tata Nexon looks quite aggressive and that is another reason why people have started acknowledging the other aspects of this SUV as well.
