Hyundai i20 N-Line To Launch Soon In IndiaImage Source: Hyundai

Hyundai has finally decided to enter the performance car market in India with its N-Line range. Many other carmakers that we consider as a premium offering has already done this long ago. However, Hyundai India has recently announced that the Korean carmaker is confident enough regarding the launch of the N-Line here. So which performance car can we expect to launch in India first?

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Hyundai has announced that the carmaker will introduce the N-Line range in India.
  • The first car that will launch is the i20 N-Line.
  • After the launch of the N-Line i20, the Korean carmaker might introduce the i20 N.

For now, we believe Hyundai will come with the i20 N-Line in India that will mark its debut here. However, it will be offered with a 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine that is already available. This engine on the other hand produces a massive 120HP alongside a peak torque of 172Nm. Meanwhile, the performance hatchback is expected to come with a more responsive steering wheel, sportier exhausts and some fine-tuning to suspension setup.

Further, the Korean carmaker has also confirmed that a properly tuned i20 N will be available thereafter. A fully tuned i20 N comes with a powerful 1.6L four-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor that can churn out a massive 204HP and a peak torque of 275Nm. Performance-wise, this same engine is capable to do a 0-100kmph sprint in just 6.7 seconds. Whereas, the top speed of the hot hatchback remains limited to 230kmph. When launched in India, this Hyundai i20 N will come to the Indian shores via the CBU route.

After analysing its response, Hyundai can think about the local assembly of the performance cars here. However, right now, let us assume that Hyundai will introduce multiple N-line models here including Venue and Elantra. Apart from this, the Hyundai N-Line i20 is expected to come with a price tag of somewhere around 12 Lakh.
