Surely a bit expensive! But after all, it is a Jaguar. An electric Jaguar, that might not please everyone in India or anywhere else around the world. But, it is obviously more practical, quick, luxurious and climate-friendly in nature.
The all-new Jaguar I-Pace can be a game-changer for the British marque. And for that, the company has finally launched it in India with a price tag of Rs.1.06 Crores (ex-showroom, Delhi). So, does that mean that the revolution has just started? Well, heading straight away to answer that.

Jaguar I-Pace
It is the design language where the all-new Jaguar I-Pace stands out. The EV looks premium with a sloping roofline, sophisticated rear end and sportier alloy wheels to name a few. Inside the cabin, it gets a large Pivi Pro touchscreen infotainment system, 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, powered front seats, large panoramic sunroof and more.
Jaguar I-Pace is currently available with a 90kWh battery. And with this battery onboard, it returns a claimed range of somewhere around 470kms (WLTP cycle). Powered by twin electric motors on both axles, the all-new electric crossover is capable of producing 400PS of power and 696Nm of torque.
Further, the performance of the I-Pace remains commendable as it can easily go from a standstill to 100kmph in just 4.8 seconds. Multiple drive modes including (Eco, Comfort and Dynamic) will be available as standard to alter the performance when required.
Charging is not an issue here. The reason being Jaguar has already installed multiple 7.4kWh AC and 25kWh DC chargers across 19 different cities. Not to forget, buyers will also get a separate charging cable and a complimentary 7.4kWh AC wall-mounted chargers. Tata Power representative on its own will visit and do that for the customers.
Alternative
For now, Jaguar I-Pace will go head-on against the likes of Mercedes Benz EQC in India. However, Audi E-Tron and Tesla Model 3 are expected to join the tribe soon.
Mercedes Benz EQC
First comes first, Mercedes Benz EQC was launched in India a few months ago. The German carmaker has priced it with a starting tag of Rs.1.04 Crores (ex-showroom, Delhi). It comes with an 80kWh lithium-ion battery that returns a claimed range of somewhere around 471kms.
Interestingly, just like the I-Pace, it is available with twin motors on both axles. However, the power figures stand at 402BHP and 760Nm of torque. The all-new electric SUV from Mercedes can do a 0-100kmph sprint in just 5.1 seconds.
