Jeep with the introduction of the Jeep Compass 4xe and Renegade 4xe has now introduced the Jeep Wrangler 4xe. The 4xe technology is nothing but electric vehicles combined with four-wheel drive configuration.
However, coming back to the Jeep Wrangler 4xe which will get the plug-in hybrid technology with regenerative braking. It gets a 400V set up along with the 17kWh Lithium-ion battery and a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4 cylinder petrol engine. The petrol engine produces 270BHP of power and 400Nm of torque. While the 17kWh battery produces 44BHP of power along with a peak torque of 53Nm. Likewise, the traction motor produces 134BHP of power and 245Nm of torque.
However, the company offers four-wheel drive features that are similar to the non-electric variant. The all-new Jeep Wrangler 4xe gets a ‘Trail-Rated’ badge which makes it truly an offroader. Being an electric vehicle the battery of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe is placed just under the second-row seat.
However, this does not limit the water wading capacity of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe. It comes with the water wading capacity which is similar to the regular Jeep Wrangler.
Meanwhile, with the plug-in hybrid avatar, Jeep Wrangler 4xe comes with three drive modes. The three drive modes are – hybrid, electric and eSave. The hybrid mode turns on the engine only when the battery charge starts reducing. While the electric mode starts when the battery is about to deplete or requires additional power. Likewise, the eSave mode only uses the petrol engine to obtain its power while conserving the battery.
Jeep Wrangler 4xe will come with three variants – 4xe, Sahara 4xe and Rubicon 4xe. Meanwhile, the additional features on offer will be the 2.0-inch lift kit, offroad bumpers, rock rails along with the 240 Volt EV wall charger.
Jeep is planning to launch the Jeep Wrangler 4xe in India. However, it will only be possible through the CBU import. Jeep will also reveal the price of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe at the time of its launch.
Jeep Wrangler 4xe is all set to rival the Ford Bronco globally.
