Kia Carens
Starting with the design, the upcoming Kia Carens does feel like a hybrid version of SUV and MPV. At the front, the brand has offered a pair of aggressive-looking headlamps, sportier bumper and muscular bonnet hood. Similarly, the side profile with body cladding and large alloy wheels does remind you of other premium MPVs.
Coming to the tail-end, Carens will also get a pair of sleek LED taillamps with a subtle roof spoiler to complete the overall profile.
Inside the cabin, it feels absolutely premium, all credit goes to a flat-bottom steering wheel behind which proudly sits a fully digital instrument cluster. Other features, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, air purifier, 64-colour ambient lighting, automatic climate control, etc further improves the practicality. For occupants safety, Kia has tried its best by offering six airbags, ABS, all four disc brakes and ESC on the all-new Carens.
Kia has confirmed that the same powertrain that was available on the Seltos will be powering the upcoming Carens. Starting with the petrol units, it will be making its debut with 1.5-litre naturally aspirated and 1.4-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engines. Likewise, a 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine will also be a part of the trim.
For transmission duties, Carens is expected to come equipped with a 6-speed manual, torque converter and 7-speed DCT gearbox depending upon the variant.
Alternatives
Time will tell where exactly the upcoming Carens will be placed in terms of rivalry.
