Everyone was waiting for the not so long version of the Defender because of its compact dimensions and there are some major reasons behind it. Firstly, it’s easy to manoeuvre inside the city and the other one is, of course, a lesser chance of damaging the underbody while offroading because of its shorter wheelbase. The British brand started accepting bookings for Defender 90 with the Defender 110, promising to deliver them in 2021.
They are already late and the ongoing pandemic has played a major role in the same. Well, it is fine, because we people believe in ‘better late than never’. Land Rover has finally rolled out the Defender 90 in India with prices starting at Rs.76.57 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). Want to learn more about it? Check out what all features it has got to offer.

Land Rover Defender 90
It is obviously shorter than the Defender 110. Offered as a three-door version, it measures 4583mm in length with a wheelbase of 2587mm. According to the brand, the all-new Defender 90 will only get a 5-seater layout with an optional jump seat for the front row. This way it can also be a six-seater.

Multiple engines are there for the customers to choose from. To begin with, Defender 90 will get a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit that churns out a decent 300HP and 400Nm of peak torque. Then, there is a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbo petrol unit that propels a massive 400HP alongside a peak torque of 550Nm. Last but not least is the similarly displaced turbo diesel engine good for 300HP and 650Nm of peak torque. All these motors are available with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive powertrain as standard.
Last year, Jeep came up with the ‘Made in India’ Wrangler that was priced aggressively at Rs.53.90 Lakh onwards. Under the hood, it features a sole 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that churns out 268HP and 400Nm of peak torque while being mated to an 8-speed torque converter gearbox and four-wheel drive powertrain as standard.
