The farewell of Lamborghini Aventador took away all the limelight in a way that we forgot the launch of this all-new sports car by Lotus. Yes, it is the endgame for internal combustion engines (ICE) for almost all the carmakers and keeping that in mind, the British brand has finally revealed – the Lotus Emira.
Last ones are the special ones. Isn’t it? Well, that’s the primary reason Emira looks absolutely staggering with a powerful mid-mounted engine onboard.
- Lotus has finally introduced the all-new Emira globally priced at $60,000.
- To be the last sports car from Lotus to get an internal combustion engine.
- It will feature two engines including a four-cylinder as well as a six-cylinder.
Dimensions & Exterior
It’s very well calibrated in terms of dimensions, that’s again an addition to the practicality quotient. The length of the sportscar stands at 4412mm, width at 1895mm, height at 1225mm and last but not least is the wheelbase at 2575mm.
Surprisingly, the brand’s latest award-winning design language that everyone has already praised a lot on the Evija will also be a part of the Emira. Listing out some crucial aspects, it gets a stylish pair of vertical LED headlights, large air vents and C-shaped LED taillamps finished smartly with creases running all across. It is also available with 20-inch alloy wheels that are wrapped with Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport rubber as standard. However, customers who wish to go for the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 are free to opt for them as well.
Interior & Features
According to Lotus, the all-new Emira is the most feature-loaded sports car by the brand till date. Inside the cabin, it features a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. Similarly, a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument console is also there with tons of information about the sportscar.
Other equipment such as manually adjustable sports seats, cruise control and a 10 channel surround sound system by KEF will be available as standard. Interestingly, a pair of 12-way electrically adjustable sports seats will be there as optional.
Engine & Performance
Such highly anticipated sports cars are all about performance. Lotus has announced that Emira will be available as the ‘First Edition’ with a 3.5-litre supercharged V6 engine by Toyota. What is going to surprise everyone more is the AMG sourced 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine on offer. The carmaker has officially confirmed its collaboration with AMG for the first time. Power outputs from both the engines are expected to range between 355HP and 395HP with a maximum torque of up to 430Nm.
Transmission duties for both these motors will be assisted by a 6-speed manual, automatic or DCT gearbox according to the variants. Coming to the performance, Lotus Emira can clock a triple-digit speed in 4.5 seconds with a top speed standing at 290kmph.
In the US, it is going to cost only $60,000. What do you feel about the all-new Emira? Should Lotus consider introducing it in India? Do let us know in the comment section below.
