Mahindra Thar RWD Price HikeImage Source: Auto Mahindra

Mahindra Thar, one of the best-selling SUVs in India, last time got an update in the form of a rear-wheel drive variant and mind you, this idea of the R&D team has done wonders for the brand.

It’s a clear strategy from the Indian carmaker. The lower the price tag the more the demand for the SUV and now, when the waiting period has gone skyrocketing, even a hefty price tag will be able to accumulate a decent number of buyers.

Want to learn more about this price hike? Here are all the details related to it down below.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Mahindra Thar RWD has received its first price hike.
  • The LX Diesel with MT will now cost Rs.50,000 more.
  • RWD variants have a waiting period of up to 74 weeks.

Mahindra Thar RWD

In the beginning, Thar RWD was launched in three variants with an introductory price tag ranging between Rs.9.99 Lakhs to Rs.13.49 Lakhs.

Thankfully, again this time the 4×2 model continues with the same three variants. However, the price of the mid variant, that is – the LX Manual MT has received a hike of Rs.50,000 ultimately pushing the price tag from Rs.10.49 Lakhs to Rs.11.49 Lakhs.

Under the hood, Thar RWD shares its engine options with the 4×4 models. This way, the first engine option is a 1.5-litre diesel unit with an output rated at 117BHP and 300Nm. Then there’s a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that churns out a massive 150BHP and 320Nm making it a powerful alternative to the already powerful diesel motor. For transmission duties, a manual or an automatic gearbox is available for sale depending upon the power unit.

Demand for the RWD version of Thar has always been high and when we talk about numbers, the petrol variant of the same has got a waiting period of 5 weeks. Surprisingly, it is the diesel variant that comes with a waiting time of somewhere close to 74 weeks.
