Bolero has always been the best-selling SUV from Mahindra’s point of view and interestingly, this is another reason why the Indian manufacturer never tried experimenting much. According to our sources, the brand is finally planning to introduce the 2022 Bolero with dual airbags and new exterior shades. Surprisingly, this launch is around the corner. So without wasting any further time, let’s check out all the details related to it down below.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Mahindra is all set to introduce Bolero with dual airbags.
  • It is powered by a 75HP, 1.5-litre three-cylinder diesel unit.
  • Will also get new exterior shades for the model year 2022.

2022 Mahindra Bolero

This is not the first time Mahindra has decided to update the Bolero. To recall, it has been existing in India for the past 21 years. Surprisingly, we haven’t witnessed a major makeover till now but the Indian brand has timely updated it in terms of crucial features.

For the model year 2022, we expect Mahindra to introduce a passenger airbag on the Bolero. Earlier, the Government of India has already announced that all the cars from now onwards will be having dual airbags as standard safety equipment. Till now, Bolero features a grab bar on the passenger side. With dual airbags on board, we expect Mahindra to revamp the entire dashboard for improved safety.

Apart from this major update, the upcoming Bolero is also expected to get new exterior shades. Feature-wise, it will remain as it is with a single-din Bluetooth enabled music system, part digital instrument cluster and keyless entry to name a few. Sadly, it doesn’t get an automatic climate control system. Instead, the brand believes in offering a manual air conditioner even on the top-end variant.

To churn the maximum out of it, Mahindra has been using a potent 1.5-litre three-cylinder diesel engine. The overall output from this power unit is currently rated at 75 horsepower and 210Nm while being paired to a sole 5-speed manual gearbox. Interestingly, it is a rear-wheel-drive SUV that enhances the overall driving experience to a much greater extent.

Alternatives

With a price tag ranging between Rs.8.72 Lakhs to Rs.9.71 Lakhs (Ex-showroom, Delhi), Mahindra Bolero will compete against some well-established sub-four meter SUVs such as Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon and Kia Sonet. Want to learn more about the Vitara Brezza? Take a look at the crucial details related to it down below.

The Vitara Brezza is obviously not older than the Bolero but in terms of design, even this sub-four meter SUV now feels dated. Powered by a sole 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, it is truly capable of churning out a decent 103BHP and 138Nm of peak torque. Feature-wise, Maruti Suzuki is ready to offer dual airbags, central locking, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and four speakers depending upon the variant.
